Disaster Planning

One of the local libraries in North Texas recently suffered a water leak that created substantial clean-up and damage. Fargo, ND is dealing with the rising Red River flooding their city. Are you and your library ready if some type of disaster occurs in your area?

dPlan is a free online tool that creates disaster plans - practical plans.

"dPlan is a free online tool that will help you simplify the process of writing a disaster plan. Enter information about your institution using the comprehensive fill-in-the-blank template. This template will guide you through the steps necessary for effective disaster planning.

Once completed, dPlan generates a printed disaster plan specific to your institution. Helping Patrons Who Have Been Laid Off.....

In a time with so many people losing there jobs - new creative sites are popping up online. One to check for a powerful networking group is a new organization called LaidOffCamp that is like a free day camp for the underemployed. According to the movement's Web site, it's "an ad-hoc gathering of unemployed and nontraditionally employed people (including freelancers, entrepreneurs and startups) who want to share ideas and learn from each other." You never know whom you might meet.
